Todo un día en Higuey, el pueblo más cercano a Bávaro (a unos 50 km), y que debeis
visitar si quereis ver algo más "real" del país. Siendo
hispanohablantes, no hay excusa, todo el mundo te entiende, y no hay problemas
de seguridad (al menos, no más que aquí, que ya es bastante). El pueblo de
Higuey fue fundado en 1502 por Fray Nicolas de Ovando. Adquirió notoriedad a
partir de una serie de milagros de la imagen de "Nuestra Señora de la
Altagracia", imagen que actualmente está en la Basilica.
One day in Higuey, the nearest town to Bavaro (about 50km). You should visit it
by your own, to know the real Domican Republic. The town dates back to the
year 1502 when Frey Nicholas de Ovando ordered its foundation, following the
consolidation of the island's conquest. The town achieved notoriety after a
series of miracles by the image of Our Lady of Altagracia (Grace), who worshiped
in the Basilica here.
